GIRLS RUN, a community fundraising organization based in The Woodlands, TX, is our response to the helplessness we felt after losing our own mother to cancer at an early age. As mothers raising daughters, women who enjoy fitness and education who are committed cancer awareness activists, we developed this program with the following mission:
- Importance of a healthy lifestyle
- Finding her voice as a cancer advocate
- Fundraising efforts
- Leadership skills
- Educational topics and guest speakers focusing on cancer prevention and awareness
- Smoke Free Texas Art Poster Campaign
- Community Outreach Projects for patients at MD Anderson's Children's Cancer Center
To empower girls to be leaders in our community and fundraise for national and local cancer initiatives while developing and instilling enthusiasm for fitness and running.
